The work of Francis Arguin consists of performances and installation art. It echoes our changing public and private environment, the way objects, people and ideas are being presented and how we react on this. By modifying form, scale, codes and symbols he offers us an alternative that balances between banality and poetry, low tech attitude and high aesthetics, thereby creating objects that seem familiar but remain ambiguous.

In his artistic practice François Lemieux has worked on installations, co-operative structures and legal documents. His past projects include the foundation of a private society in which contracts regulate spectatorship, a co-operative whiskey bar and an artist-in-residence program and project space in his Montreal apartment. Within these works, ironical play, hospitality and organisation make visible the social and political ramifications of the context of art.

The artists would like to thank the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Quebec for their support.
